International Luxury Ambassador Jade Mills, Beverly Hills’ leading real estate professional affiliated with Coldwell Banker Realty in Beverly Hills, Steve Frankel, a Coldwell Banker Global Luxury Property Specialist affiliated with the Beverly Hills office of Coldwell Banker Realty, and BIGHORN Properties held the listing.

Featuring curved, copper roofs and asymmetrical walls, the approximately 32,000-square-foot residence “was built by the late Duane Hagadone, a hospitality and publishing executive,” per The Wall Street Journal.

Mirroring the natural terrain and organically constructed onto a summit hilltop, the home was designed with overlapping planes and serpentine walls that form a series of asymmetrical pavilions and retractable walls of glass that create the quintessential indoor/outdoor living experience.

Sweeping unobstructed mountain and valley views can be seen from every room, and many are surrounded by pools of oscillating water, further bringing the outdoors in. “Unparalleled in size, scale and design, this is one of the most spectacular estates ever built,” said Mills. “In 2009, it was named Robb Report’s Ultimate Home of the Year.”

The unique interiors bring together seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Accentuated by a Dale Chihuly sculpture, the focal point of the living room is a massive titanium fireplace and a striking ceiling of undulating wood panels. An aquatic adventure, the large-scale dining room is accessible by an impressive aquarium tunnel comprising two tanks of exotic fish and a rare shark tank.

There is an additional bedroom suite and staff quarters in the main residence. The guest pavilion contains four additional large-scale bedroom suites and lounge areas. Among its defining features is a “James Bond 007-inspired office” carved into the rock and dramatically resting on a plateau.

Outside, the three interlocking sculptural pools offer a one-of-a-kind swimming experience. “It’s like having your own private resort,” Frankel added. “So much care and science that went into this property, making it an unduplicatable site built into a rock with staggering views.”
