Resort Compound Outside of St. Louis Lists for $20 Million

A lavish resort-like compound in a quiet Missouri town about 40 miles west of St. Louis has set a record for its $20 million asking price.

If it sells for close to that number, the estate will be the most expensive ever sold in the St. Louis metro area, listing agents Saundra Pogrelis, Chad Matlick and Deanna Matlick of Coldwell Banker Gundaker told The Wall Street Journal. “It is a particularly unusual property for Flint Hill, a rural area with ample farmland and a handful of large estates,” according to the article. “With a population of around 550, Flint Hill is located a few miles from Wentzville, a suburb of St. Louis.”

No matter where the property is located, it would still be considered one-of-a-kind, believes Pogrelis. The estate encompasses 20+ acres, with up to 130 available, plus a sprawling 20,000-square-foot English Country-style main residence, stables, barns, a private chapel, a sport and event venue, sports field, playground/amusement area with Ferris Wheel, a bowling alley, theatre, arcade, and a resort-worthy water park.

It’s a retreat made to feel like a private wonderland, where multi-generations of families can gather and feel worlds away — despite being within easy proximity to Lambert International Airport and Spirit of St. Louis Business Aviation Center.

A stone bridge and live streams were designed and inspired by the picturesque images of Thomas Kinkade. The sprawling home presents “luxury meant to be lived in” with amenities and spaces designed for pampering and play. Warm and welcoming interiors balance formality with relaxed informality.

Custom details abound, speaking to the residence’s lasting craftsmanship and timeless style. Among the highlights: intricate radius moldings, eight full masonry fireplaces, a private chapel with custom lead glass windows depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Miracles, two master suites, a grand entry and a striking multi-level library.

Exterior porches allow striking sunrise and sunset views to be cherished all year long.

The grounds create a truly magical and enclosed setting that feels more like a private resort than a residence. The stables are fashioned after The Clydesdale Facility at Busch Gardens.

Park-like amenities provide endless hours of fun for both kids and kids at heart. The outdoor space impresses with dual racing slides, two waterfalls, a swim-up bar, waterfall-covered Grotto, in-pool volleyball and basketball, diving board, zero-edge entry and even a lazy river.

All of these qualities combined make this extraordinary Flint Hill property among the most unique luxury residential offerings to hit the market this year. With people’s ability to work remotely and a recentering of lifestyles towards families, Pogrelis believes the unique estate could have a broadening appeal as affluent buyers are less tied to big cities.
